TDAzlan brings cloud-based VDI service for SMBs to UK market

Cisco Powered solution expands potential available market for hosted VDI –service to be offered via Verizon’s enterprise-class data centres

Basingstoke, 24 March 2014 – TDAzlan, the value-added distributor of datacentre, infrastructure, unified communications and enterprise software solutions, has signed a UK distribution agreement for Flip IT – the Cisco Powered cloud-based virtualized desktop service for small-and medium-sized businesses.

Flip IT is ideally-suited to SMBs with up to 100 seats and thus addresses a market that is not served by current offerings in the VDI market. Through its Applications Store, it provides subscribers with access to a whole range of popular applications and services on a monthly, per-seat basis and thus offers optimum flexibility and dynamic scalability for smaller and growing businesses.

The service, developed by specialist independent software vendor, NIL (www.nil.com), is being provided to Azlan by Verizon Enterprise Solutions through its network of enterprise-class data centres.

With immediate effect, the service will be fully available through Tech Data’s StreamOne aggregation and billing platform, making it easy for resellers to deliver the service to their customers, provide quotations and consolidate billing at the end of each month.

Mark Wheeler, Director of the Cisco Business Unit within Azlan, stated: “As Flip IT is a Cisco-Powered service, it is a natural fit both for Azlan and for SMB-focused Cisco channel partners looking to become Cisco Cloud Services Resellers.”

With the end of support for Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) editions and Windows XP now imminent, this is an opportune time to be talking to SMBs about their approach to IT solutions and services, Wheeler added.

“Many smaller businesses will need to consider their next steps very carefully and we believe Flip IT is a very good option. It enables them to build an entire virtual office inside the cloud, without having to make any long-term commitment to purchasing software or managing software deployment and licensing. It is entirely secure and very cost-effective. We can clearly demonstrate that SMBs will make significant cost-savings by making use of the Flip IT VDI service instead of on-premise software.”

Flip IT is being offered by Azlan as part of Tech Data’s ongoing TD Cloud strategy, which consists of a set of programmes and services that address the needs of managed services providers (MSPs) , value-added resellers and ISVs addressing the developing cloud services market.

TDAzlan extends the reach of its unique Business Solutions Centre resource

Basingstoke, 10 February 2014 – TDAzlan, the value-added enterprise distribution arm of Tech Data UK, has extended the reach of its state-of-the-art Business Solutions Centre (BSC) in Birmingham to its offices in Heathrow, with further extensions to Warrington, London and Basingstoke planned for the near future.

The BSC is a fully-equipped InfraStruxure datacentre rack from APC that contains the full range of IBM, HP and Nutanix datacentre technologies, along with the latest advanced solutions from VMware, Citrix, Veeam and Atlantis, and many other vendors, fully implemented and available for simulation and testing.

The full capability of this unique resource is being made available locally at all of Azlan’s UK locations, giving resellers even more opportunity to demonstrate the latest advanced solutions to their customers. As part of the integration of SDG and Azlan, the BSC is also being equipped with Cisco, EMC and Microsoft technologies, so it will be even more effective as a demonstration and proof-of-concept resource, says Daniel Cartter, EMEA Director Cloud Solutions and Services for Azlan.

“The further investment we are making in the BSC will make it even more versatile and accessible. With four remote locations it will be much easier for our partners to make use of the centre to demonstrate exactly how specific technology solutions can be used to deliver positive results for customers. TDAzlan aims to promote resellers to Brocade Premier Partner league with BCNE Bootcamps

Basingstoke, 28 November 2013 – TDAzlan, the enterprise networking division of Tech Data has started running a series of free Brocade Certified Network Engineer (BCNE) Bootcamps as part of its Brocade Partner enablement programme.  The intensive two-day sessions are specifically designed to help resellers prepare for and pass the BCNE exam and thus take a massive step towards gaining accredited status with Brocade.

Attendees are given a complementary voucher to cover the cost of the third-party party BCNE exam, which needs to be booked after the training. BCNE accreditation is one of the pre-requisites required for partners to move from Select to Premier status – and gain all the advantages that go with it. A maximum of four partners are booked onto each course, ensuring a consistent high-quality of expert training for every individual

Azlan has had a 100 percent success rate so far on the camps and resellers have been delighted with the content. Sami Susiaho, Head of Edge Technologies at The Cloud – a BSkyB company, who attended a Bootcamp in November, said: “Azlan's knowledge helped us to converse with the right people, find some great products and provided us with a comprehensive training on how to use it. The Brocade Bootcamp was particularly well-received and I can highly recommend it.”

Brocade is working with Azlan to bring more resellers up to the higher level of accreditation, said Tony Swinburn EAN Business Manager at Azlan. “The BCNE training gives the resellers competency and confidence to take Brocade’s dynamic data-centre networking solutions to their customers. We are seeing excellent results from partners who successfully achieve Premier Partner status. It’s really something that every reseller that is serious about building their enterprise data centre infrastructure business should be doing right away.”

Azlan is running one more BCNE Bootcamp this year, on 12th and 13th December 2013, and three more two-day sessions in January – on the 7th and 8th, the 14th and 15th, and 21st and 22nd of the month. TDAzlan-SDG appoints Gareth Hansford as UK MD

TDAzlan-SDG, the enterprise division of Tech Data, has appointed Gareth Hansford as UK Managing Director, to lead the company during its next phase of development.

Hansford brings more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry to the role. He most recently led the software channels business for IBM across Europe, prior to which he led distribution for IBM across the European region.  He has also spent a number of years as Managing Director of Lenovo’s UK and Ireland operations and as head of IBM’s software business.
