Azlan UK team handed worldwide Award for Excellence in collaboration by Cisco

Azlan, the enterprise division of Computer 2000, has been presented with worldwide Award for Excellence by Cisco in recognition of its outstanding work in the Cisco Collaboration space.  The award was presented to Colin McGregor, Azlan Director UK and Ireland, at the recent Cisco Partner Summit in San Diego. It was one of only eight worldwide awards to be presented to distributors by Cisco.

Azlan makes it simple for Cisco Partners to win SMARTnet services renewals with Felix AutoQuote

Munich, 04 April 2012 Azlan, Europe’s leading distributor of enterprise networking, server, storage and software solutions, has announced the availability of its new auto-quoting functionality within its industry leading Cisco SMARTnet quoting, ordering and contract management platform, Felix.

The new Felix AutoQuote features make it much easier for Cisco Partners to quote customers for renewals of SMARTnet services. It also provides resellers with advanced notice of customer contracts that are approaching their renewal dates – 30, 60 and 90 days in advance.  Felix AutoQuote is an automated SMARTnet renewals quotation process that strengthens the company’s position as the partner of choice for Cisco VARs across the region.

Quotations for qualifying renewals opportunities are generated by the system automatically and sent to resellers at the appropriate time. The reseller can then insert their own logo and other details before sending the quotation on to their customer.  When the customer has supplied a purchase order, the reseller can then complete the transaction within Felix and the renewal will be confirmed within hours. 

David Harvey, European Director of Cisco at Azlan stated: “With Felix AutoQuote all the hard work is done for Cisco partners on SMARTnet services renewals.  They can be 100 percent sure the quotation is accurate and fully verified by Cisco. Once the customer is satisfied, the renewal will be competed promptly, which means that resellers can deliver great levels of service. TheAutoQuote feature makes it easier for resellers to do business and enhances the value that Azlan is delivering to the Cisco channel with Felix.”

Having advanced notice of renewals will enable resellers to make their customers aware of the need to renew their contract early. This will allow better planning and budget projections – an important consideration at the present time, Harvey noted.

Cisco Partners that want to maximise the potential of Felix AutoQuote are advised to make a Click2View request through Azlan; this will enable Azlan to approach Cisco for the reseller’s entire renewals database. Partners can then be certain of being alerted to all potential renewals business opportunities through Felix AutoQuote. Azlan forms Services team to focus on annuity-based business

Azlan, the enterprise division of Computer 2000, has formed a new Services team and is looking to work with resellers to help them develop their business around software support, hardware maintenance and training and range of additional value-added services. The five-strong team has been brought together over the past two months to provide a focal-point for a major drive into the services arena by Azlan.

The team is being led by Kevin Markwick, who was appointed Azlan IBM and Services Business Unit Director at the end of last year and has since been working on building the team and the Azlan Services proposition.

Markwick stated: “We see services as a massive opportunity and while we have encouraged resellers to build particular vendor services – and had some real success in doing that – we knew that we needed to put more concentrated and sustained effort on the wider services opportunity. We now have that focus and the team and partnerships in place to help resellers develop their value-added services business. We see this as a major opportunity and one that will be increasingly important in the future, as business models shift further towards annuity-based revenue streams and away from reliance on product sales.”

As well as working with core vendors, Azlan has formed a partnership with professional services company ITEC Intelligent Services PLC to provide configuration, installation, project management and other core services resources to partners. Further collaborations and partnerships are being discussed. 

The Azlan Services team will work with resellers to help them develop a services proposition that suits their business. It will help resellers to meet customer needs by calling on its own in-house expertise or partnerships with specialist third parties, or to enhance or create their own services capabilities.

Azlan aiming to build ‘blue on blue’ sales with IBM partners

Value-added distributor is backing IBM’s new Solution Accelerator Incentive programme to help resellers lift margins on combined IBM hardware and software sales

Azlan, the enterprise division of Computer 2000, is planning to help IBM resellers to lift their margins on combined IBM hardware and software solutions by supporting the vendor’s new Solution Accelerator Incentive (SAI) scheme, which the company announced recently at IBM PartnerWorld in New Orleans.

Under the SAI, IBM partners that sell ‘blue on blue’ combinations of IBM solutions can earn an additional 15 percent rebate on the software element and an additional 5 percent rebate on the hardware. This provides resellers with a strong encouragement to sell total IBM solutions – and to sell IBM’s software in particular. As a leading distributor of IBM software solutions, Azlan is well-placed to offer hardware resellers the products and support they need, without disrupting their existing relationships with IBM hardware distributors.

Kevin Markwick, Azlan IBM Director, said: “This programme is an excellent move by IBM that will increase the focus on totally ‘blue’ solution sales.  There are a number of partners in the UK that sell only IBM hardware and the company wants to encourage them to sell its software alongside its systems and servers. With the potential to boost the margin on every sale by as much as 20 percent, the Solution Accelerator Incentive gives resellers every reason to explore the opportunities and look to sell IBM software as part of every hardware sale.”

As well as offering pre-sales support and advice on IBM software solutions, Azlan can offer practical post-sales help for partners in claiming the extra rebates due to them for making combined ‘blue on blue’ sales. Markwick pointed out that, since Azlan is currently a distributor for the IBM software portfolio only, and does not get involved in the distribution of IBM hardware, it can support and work with IBM partners without interfering with their current supply routes.

“SAI provides a strong incentive for resellers to sell ‘blue’ software on ‘blue’ platforms. Azlan UK distributes only the IBM software portfolio and are able to support partners who want to benefit from SAI by taking IBM software to market alongside IBM hardware. We are not looking to impact or interfere with existing relationships partners might have with IBM hardware distributors. But we have the expertise in IBM software, so we can help them to make sales and to claim that additional 15 percent rebate.”

What this means, Markwick adds, is that IBM partners get the best of both worlds. “They can draw on our focus and experience in IBM software to drive sales of those solutions on IBM platforms, whilst continuing their engagement their hardware VAD partner. Azlan will support them right through the sales process – from building the initial quotation, to claimimng the additional rebates to which they are entitled on both software and hardware sales.”

Azlan launches Cisco BYOD Starter Packs to help resellers take advantage of 'bring your own device' growth

Azlan, the enterprise division of Computer 2000, has launched a programme aimed at enabling resellers to take advantage of the opportunities surrounding the rapidly developing ‘bring your own device’ trend in the corporate and public sector markets. With the sales of smartphones and tablets now overtaking sales of PCs and the amount of mobile data traffic expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 78 percent*1 between now and 2016, the pressure is mounting on organisations to adopt strategies that will allow users to securely connect to networks with their own devices. 

It is offering a series of pre-defined bundles, featuring Cisco wireless access points and routers that will enable quick and easy access to the network. These Azlan-exclusive packages will take full advantage of the Cisco Borderless Network architecture’s ability to scale for any size of organisation, linking people, information and devices together, securely, seamlessly and reliably.

The first two entry-level Starter Packs will come with five access licenses and are designed to support up to 100 users. One is a basic set-up while the other comes with a built-in firewall. Additional packs, designed to meet larger-scale BYOD requirements, will be added in due course.

Azlan will draw on the expertise of its Solutions Architects to provide technical advice to resellers on BYOD implementations. It will also work with resellers to help them develop value-added services around the Starter Packs. Marketing support will also be made available.

Mark Wheeler, Azlan Cisco Business Unit Director, says that the programme will help our partners meet if not then consider the BYOD needs of their customers now. “With the number of users wanting to access the corporate network though their own smartphones and tablets as well as laptops, organisations are having to face up to the technical, security and compliance challenges that BYOD brings – and they need to do that right now. Our BYOD programme gives resellers a set of pre-defined options that they can take to customers immediately. We have started with these relatively simple Starter Packs and we’ll be drawing on the broader strengths of Azlan and other specialist business units within the company as we add more options.”
